Simply unscrew the top where the bulb is and insert 2 AA batteries positive up.
Once the candle is turned on (by screwing in the bulb) it will stay lit for 8 hours and will shut itself off for 16 hours.
If you wish to turn in on for fewer hours simply unscrew the bulb.
Great to use when there are power outages, camping and in your windows when you need a bit of light and have no outlet to plug them into.
